Despite being 20 years old, Pride & Prejudice remains one of the most iconic movies ever created in Hollywood. From Kiera Knightley’s Oscar-nominated role to the film getting rave reviews, the Joe Wright movie was a phenomenon that only happens so rarely.
Following the success of the film, the lead cast of Pride & Prejudice went on to star in several other notable films and series. With 2025 about to end in three months (huh?), here are the whereabouts of the cast of Pride & Prejudice 20 years later.
1. Keira Knightley
In the 2005 movie, Knightley played the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet, a strong and self-reliant woman in a period setting. An encounter with an arrogant yet charismatic man leads to chaos and emotional drama as the two characters develop an unusual relationship in Pride & Prejudice.
The actress’s acting was so stellar that she was even nominated for an Oscar award for her performance in the 2005 movie. Following her success in the 2005 flick, Keira Knightley continued to star in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in her famous role of Elizabeth Swann.
Her latest projects include the 2023 show The Sound Collector and the 2024 show Black Doves. Other than that, the actress will be portraying the role of Laura Blacklock in a movie titled The Woman in Cabin 10.
Side note: She will also be voicing the role of Dolores Umbridge in the upcoming Harry Potter audiobook, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in 2026.
2. Matthew Macfadyen
The second lead star of the movie, Matthew Macfadyen, portrayed the role of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, an arrogant man who develops an unusual relationship with Elizabeth Bennet in the 2005 movie.
Although being the anti-hero of the movie, Mr. Darcy’s behavior is quite unpredictable throughout the whole relationship. From going through personal character development and having prejudices against Elizabeth Bennet to learning how to love her, Mr. Darcy was simply iconic.
Matthew Macfadyen portrayed the character of Mr. Darcy quite beautifully. Macfadyen went on to have an acclaimed career by winning two Primetime Emmy awards. His latest work includes Deadpool & Wolverine and Holland.
The actor is all set for three TV shows, namely: Death by Lightning, The Miniature Wife, and Legacy of Spies. The actor will also voice Lord Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter audiobook, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
3. Rosamund Pike
Following her fame as Eowyn in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Rosamund Pike starred in Pride & Prejudice as Jane Bennet, a sister to Elizabeth Bennet.
Throughout the movie, Jane Bennet’s character is a stark contrast to Elizabeth Bennet, and her romantic subplot fills the first half of the movie. Being an optimistic character, Jane Bennet saw the good in everyone, and Rosamund Pike did the perfect job in enacting the character.
Following her success with Pride & Prejudice, Pike went on to star in some iconic movies like Gone Girl (for which she was nominated for an Oscar award), Saltburn, and more.
Her upcoming projects include Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, In the Grey, Ladies First, Thumblite, and Wife and Dog.
4. Carey Mulligan
Although more of a background character, Carey Mulligan portrayed the role of Kitty Bennet in the 2005 movie. Staying in the shadows of her two elder sisters, Kitty Bennet starts getting influenced by Lydia Bennet’s behavior.
Throughout the movie, Kitty shadows Lydia Bennet, and the two are often seen together. Following her elopement, Kitty’s character transforms and is seen spending time with Elizabeth and Jane Bennet. The character was used to starkly contrast the adult world of seriousness and love.
Mulligan had an iconic portrayal as Kitty Bennet, as the emotions of getting influenced and trying to find her voice were clearly evident through her acting skills. Following her fame with Pride & Prejudice, Carey Mulligan went on to star in iconic projects like Promising Young Woman (for which she received an Oscar nod) and Maestro.
Her upcoming projects include an episode in Beef, Narnia (rumored), and Wildwood (voice performance).
5. Jena Malone
Back in 2005, Jena Malone portrayed the role of Lydia Bennet in Pride & Prejudice. One of the more chaotic daughters of the Bennets, Lydia Bennet, had a subplot where she eloped with Wickham during the final sequences of the movie.
Being an integral part of the storyline, Jena Malone had some iconic moments in the 2005 film, wherein her character really shone above others. Naturally, the actress went on to numerous projects and shows after Pride & Prejudice.
Her recent projects include Love Lies Bleeding in 2024 and starring alongside Kevin Costner in the 2025 flick, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. At the moment, the actress has 6 projects lined up, namely: Buff (short film), Sylvia (short film), The Boroughs, The Movers, and Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas (voice performance).
Naturally, the cast of Pride & Prejudice is doing quite well in terms of their respective careers, with a ton of projects lined up and a successful career in Hollywood.
