1. The Game Is Set in Retro Japan
One of the different things about Silent Hill f is that it steps aside from the typical small-town locations set in America. Don’t expect it to be a futuristic location, as the developers have made it clear that the Japan showcased in f is from 1960.

In this upcoming game, you will be playing as Hinako Shimizu, who is a high schooler in Ebisugaoka, Japan. Her story and the plot of this game are written by a Japanese author and artist, Ryukishi07, popular for various works, including Higurashi When They Cry, Natsu no Kagerō, Ciconia When They Cry, etc.
Hinako will be living a normal life until a mysterious fog covers the entire town and begins to change it in horrific ways. While the protagonist is separated from her friends at school, she has to find a way out of this trouble without dying. How and when it will all be revealed when you play the game.
3. Silent Hill f is a Standalone Game
Luckily, those who are new won’t have to play any of the previous games in this franchise to understand what’s happening in Silent Hill f. This game presents a new storyline with new characters, so there’s nothing connected to the older Silent Hill games, except the thrill, terrifying environment, and guilt.
Although you can still try out some older Silent Hill titles to get a grasp of the story flow and in-game mechanics before starting your adventures in f.
4. Expect a Mind-Bending Experience
If you are waiting for a fast-paced experience to cure the lack of horror in your life, then Silent Hill f is definitely not for you. This game presents a slow-burning experience filled with puzzles that must be solved in order to progress forward. These puzzles will force you to brace your heart and use your brain, as they will be confusing and dangerous.
Apart from puzzles, there are also hallucination sequences in this game, so you might have some trouble figuring out what’s real. For that, be prepared!
5. Gameplay Setting
Unlike previous games in the series, the gameplay style of Silent Hill f is going to be a little different. There is going to be a heavy use of melee combat during your playthrough, something that’s never been seen in a Silent Hill game. Hinako, the protagonist, will be using melee weapons to tackle the opponents.
What’s shocking is that there’s going to be a perfect dodge mechanic, which will allow you to slow down the time when perfectly dodging an attack. This can be used to execute a special move or counterattack the monsters.
