The Choir is a new Apple TV show by Gavin and Stacey co-creators James Corden and Ruth Jones. According to an exclusive with Deadline, the plot details are revealed:
Corden and Jones are playing the leads and exec producing The Choir and will star as brother and sister Ben and Lisa, who haven’t seen each other for several years. Ben has been living abroad, while Lisa has carried on in their small English town where nothing ever happens. But when events take a sorry turn, Ben is forced to return to a life he never wanted, a town he never liked and a family from which he’s estranged.
The Choir comes as a result of a hush deal with Apple.

According to Deadline’s exclusive, the Apple TV show will be an eight-part comedy, with filming set to begin in 2026.

Gavin and Stacey is one of the UK’s most beloved sitcoms that has run for a few decades, which followed the long-distance relationship between Gavin (from Essex) and Stacey (from Barry, Wales). They first met online, and what followed is a series of comedic and heartfelt moments as their two families from different backgrounds come together.
The show became famous for many catchphrases, like Uncle Bryn’s “What’s occurring?” and Nessa’s “Tidy”. James Corden and Ruth Jones won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Comedy Performance. The show also won Best TV Comedy in the British Comedy Awards in 2008.
