Helldivers 2 is all about shooting enemies and defending planets in the name of Freedom and Democracy. However, the galactic war demands much more than that. It requires players to understand key mechanics and terms to succeed. One of the most important of these terms is Invasion Level.
The term simply indicates how much defense is required to stop an enemy faction from taking over a planet. But the concept is much deeper and more complex, especially right now, as we are facing an uphill battle against the Bugs. Let’s dive into the details.
Understanding Invasion Level: What Does It Really Mean in Helldivers 2?

In Helldivers 2, Invasion Level is a metric used to track how much effort is needed to defend a planet from enemy forces. It is measured in terms of HP (Health Points), where each level equals 50,000 HP.
So, if a planet is on Level 50, it has 2,500,000 HP that must be “damaged” (i.e., reduced) by completing defense missions. This essentially shows how many missions need to be completed by players to prevent the enemy faction from taking control.
As Helldivers, players need to fill their own blue bar by completing missions, while the enemy fills its bar by successfully progressing through its own set of objectives. It’s not just a battle against aliens, but also against time.
Invasion campaigns last for 24 hours, and if in that time, the enemy faction fills their progress bar before players do, not only do we fail the mission, but also the planet falls into their hands. What’s interesting about the invasion level is that it doesn’t just affect mission difficulty or spawn rates.
They are only present to dictate the urgency and scope of the defense efforts needed from the players. The higher the Invasion Levels, the more strategic planning, coordination, and teamwork are required to defend the planet.
The Crimsica Planet: A Level 50 Challenge in the Latest Major Order

The latest Major Order has tasked players to defend against the Terminids’ invasion on 7 different planets. The first planet, Gacrux, with an Invasion Level of 20, is manageable, and its defense is going strong.
But now on the second day, players face a much steeper challenge on Crimsica, which has an Invasion Level of 50, a significant increase in difficulty. This means it has 2.5 million HP to be defended, requiring players to complete many more missions to prevent the Terminids’ takeover.
MAJOR ORDER: Multiple Gloom-adjacent planets have come under heavy Terminid attack. Large swarms of Fascist insects have been reported descending upon several Federation-held planets, overwhelming SEAF defenses and eating innocent colonists.

As the enemy is progressing steadily every hour, the pressure is mounting, and Helldivers are being made aware that if they fail to keep up with the invasion’s pace, Crimsica will fall into the hands of the Terminids, expanding the Gloom.
And if you think about it, this is just the second planet; there are still five more to go, and the stakes are only going to get higher. With each planet, players will face increasingly tough challenges, and Invasion Level will become a critical factor in how much effort is needed to maintain freedom in the galaxy.
