The Water Magician Season 2 Renewal Status & Possible Manga Arcs Explained

Neither Crunchyroll nor the studios (Typhoon Graphics and WonderLand) involved have confirmed the renewal for The Water Magician anime, despite the 1st season nearing its end. So, until their further announcement, we can’t be sure whether the anime will continue with a season 2 or not.

The first season of The Water Magician anime started airing in July 2025, and despite receiving some critical praise, a 2nd season hasn’t been announced yet. However, if it does get announced, fans can expect at least a one-year gap before Season 2 starts airing, possibly in Summer 2026.

This is based on a typical anime season’s production schedule, which usually takes around a year to complete. So, the next Summer is the earliest we can hope for The Water Magician Season 2. But what possible arcs from the manga will Season 2 cover? Here’s everything you need to know.

What Might Happen in a Possible Season 2 of The Water Magician?

Since The Water Magician anime is an adaptation of the manga (and the light novel before it), a potential Season 2 would depend heavily on where Season 1 ends. Now, considering the next possible season will also feature 12 to 13 episodes, some major manga arcs might get adapted.

The ongoing Water Magician Season 1 is only covering the introductory, Central Provinces Arc from the manga; however, it hasn’t and probably will not touch the Western Provinces Arc or the Eastern Countries Arc. Even the manga is currently adapting these two arcs from the light novel.

2. The Western Provinces ArcSeason 2 (potential)Chapters 36 to ongoingJanuary 15, 2025

Now, if we break down the bigger arcs for a potential Season 2, fans have a lot to look forward to. There’s the return of the Water Spirit King and other ancient threats that could shake up the world, along with the lingering mystery of Ryo’s “Eternal Youth” curse.

On top of that, fans can expect several twists, betrayals, and political conflicts as kingdoms and rival magicians make their moves. With all this coming, there are plenty of things in the manga to get excited about.

Many might scratch The Water Magician off their watchlist because it’s an Isekai after all. But watching the MC use his magic powers in a way that is quite different from others, and with the show’s calm atmosphere, makes it stand out from other Isekai. And in a potential season 2, there’ll be even more to come with higher stakes.

The setting itself offers a lot of room for expansion. New lands, monsters, and rival magicians would be introduced. Also, its straightforward, immersive approach makes every adventure easy to follow and fun to watch.

Ryo’s solitary journey also feels so real when transported to another world. So naturally, it deserves more episodes. A second season would give fans more of the magic, adventure, and heart that make the series so good. So, are you excited for further positive announcements from Crunchyroll or the studios?
