While there hasn’t been any official announcement on The Water Magician anime’s renewal status, a possible second season might be on the rise. And following that, who knows, Season 3 could also be a possibility. If it does happen, we’ve listed below certain manga arcs that may be adapted in the anime’s upcoming storyline.
Although Crunchyroll or the studio hasn’t shared any updates yet, we might get to see the next four major arcs adapted into future seasons of The Water Magician. However, now that Season 1 has come to an end, wrapping up the Central Provinces Arc from the manga, the question remains: will future seasons make the storyline any better?
All About the Upcoming The Water Magician Season 2 & 3 Arcs
Season 1 wrapped up with the introductory Central Provinces Arc. Now, following not just the manga but also the light novel, Season 2 of The Water Magician
And if the new season gets 12–13 episodes, there’s a good chance some of the major manga arcs will make it into the anime. We haven’t even gotten close to the Western Provinces Arc or the Eastern Countries Arc yet.
Those are still being fleshed out in the manga, as they are still being adapted from the light novel. So for now, the anime is still playing catch-up with that part of the story. Here’s what arcs we can expect in Season 2:
If Season 2 ends up covering those arcs, then Season 3 will have a pretty clear path ahead. However, it may then have to adapt directly from the source material, the light novel.
Chances of the manga catching up to the light novel by then are certainly there, but we should prepare for the worst. Although a direct adaptation often turns out comparatively underwhelming, it’s still better than nothing.
By heading into newer regions, we can expect brand-new lore, unfamiliar lands, and mysterious layers of the world that haven’t been explored yet. Each arc will peel back another surface, hinting at even greater mysteries. So, as it seems, Season 2 & 3 could be really good.
How the Future Arcs of The Water Magician May Revive the Storyline
Looking ahead to a potential Season 2, fans have a lot to get excited about. The return of the Water Spirit King and other ancient threats could shake up the world, plus there’s the ongoing mystery of Ryo’s “Eternal Youth” curse.
On top of that, fans can expect more twists, betrayals, and plenty of political maneuvering as kingdoms and rival magicians make their moves. With all this material in the manga, there’s definitely a lot to look forward to in future seasons.
Despite being just another Isekai, The Water Magician shines bright for how soothing it feels. Watching the MC use his magic powers in a way that is quite different from others, and with the show’s calm atmosphere, makes it stand out from other Isekai. And in future seasons, there’ll be even stuff like this with higher stakes.
The Water Magician Season 1 is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
