The Summer I Turned Pretty has finally concluded its three-season run, with its finale doing Taylor Swift a huge favor. The episode titled, At Last, featured Swift’s Reputation album track Dress during an intimate scene between the endgame couple, Conrad and Belly. Days after the episode aired, Pop Base on X revealed that the song jumped almost two dozen on the Global Spotify Chart.

Neither Swift nor TSITP is a stranger to breaking records in their respective fields. Even so, it must be exciting for fans to see two of their favorite media collide in a way that amplifies the cultural impact of both.
The Summer I Turned Pretty: Jenny Han Reveals Why a Different Track from 1989 Was Perfect
Since Jenny Han released the TSITP book series more than a decade ago, it has been clear that she is a fan of Taylor Swift. By the time Prime Video offered her a chance to turn her novels into a series, Swift had released many other songs.
One of the most well-known albums from the now-engaged songstress is 1989, which was released years before TSITP. So, why did creator Han wait until the finale to use it? In an interview with PEOPLE, she said:
For ‘Out of the Woods’ I had that thought kind of early on, because I wanted the moment, for the audience, to mirror back what was happening for Belly. When you hear the beginning of where we sync the music, you’re not sure immediately what [song] it is. But then you’re going to hear that ‘I remember,’ and she’s having her own moment of remembering who she is.
Lola Tung, who plays the lead character, Belly, said that the whole scene felt like a choreographed dance as she ran through the streets and jumped on the train, looking for Conrad. Their emotional love confession to each other on a running train was only the icing on the cake.
