There was also a flashback narrated by Yoshiki’s father regarding the dead father of Hikaru. Turns out, Yoshiki’s dad suspects foul play in his friend’s death.

The Summer Hikaru Died Episode 11 Recap
The Summer Hikaru Died episode 11 showed Yoshiki talking to his father and inquiring about the Indou family’s sin. Turns out Hikaru’s father had actually divulged the secret to Yoshiki’s father. The story goes as follows:
Ages ago, a young Indou family head’s wife died of a disease and became Okubi-sama (Japanese giant head yokai whose appearance is a sign of impending disaster). The family head trekked up the mountain to offer his wife’s head. He asked to bring his wife back to life. He swore to bring anyone else’s head as long as they didn’t belong to the Indou family. As a result, the head really did come to life, but on the same day, a third of the village lost their lives, and it was always the heads that suffered.
Nobody in the Indou family died, but the wife, who had come back to life, was nothing but a living head, and died shortly after due to suffering. The mysterious deaths stopped along with the diseases and bad harvests. Apparently, Hichi-san is actually the head of the woman who came back to life.
Turns out, the men of the Indou family take Hichi-san to the mountain every five years to ask for forgiveness and beg. However, Hikaru’s father died shortly after raising a dissenting voice against the continuing tradition. It was hard to know if he died or was killed.
Back in school, Hikaru suddenly loses control and is about to devour Yoshiki. Thankfully, his senses return at the right moment, Hikaru gets embarrassed and feels guilt, and runs to Kurebayashi for advance. The boy decides to go back to the mountains if it means Yoshiki won’t get mixed in anymore.
The Summer Hikaru Died Episode 12 Speculation
The Summer Hikaru Died episode 12 will be the grand finale of the anime. It will wrap up the story about the Indou Family’s sin. It should also reveal what or who the being inside Hikaru’s body actually is. Is it Hichi-san, Unuki-sama, Nounuki-sama, or something entirely different?
Additionally, the series needs to reveal what actually happened to both Hikaru and his father, along with the disposition and goal of Tanaka.
