The Mandalorian and Grogu Trailer: Baby Yoda Teams Up With Sigourney Weaver to Save Star Wars

The galaxy far, far away will once again feel a little closer because Lucasfilm has officially dropped the first teaser trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, and it seems to be everything that Star Wars fans have been waiting for! It brings back Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin with Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) and some exciting new faces like Sigourney Weaver as Ward, a legendary New Republic Colonel and Rebel Alliance veteran pilot.

Joining them is Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt (yes, Jabba’s son!) and Jonny Coyne as an Imperial warlord. On top of that, we’ve also got some fan-favorites like Zeb Orrelios and members from the Anzellans species, so The Mandalorian and Grogu film is already shaping up to be a crossover-filled adventure. Director Jon Favreau couldn’t contain his excitement about the project and said (via Variety)

I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.

So, here’s a breakdown of the recent teaser trailer to see what exactly Favreau has brought to the epic Star Wars saga!

Trailer Breakdown of Star Wars’ The Mandalorian and Grogu Featuring Sigourney Weaver

What does the trailer actually show us? To put it shortly, there’s a lot of action, heart, and the magic you’d expect from a Star Wars movie. Right from the start, we’re reminded that “the evil Empire has fallen and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy.” (via Star Wars)

The New Republic chooses Din Djarin and Grogu to safeguard peace, and the duo is most certainly up for the challenge. The footage shows some epic set pieces and also sets the stage for unforeseen alliances. There are towering sci-fi beasts, lizard monster-like creatures, and gladiator arenas.

One highlight is how a colossal AT-AT is brought down as it dramatically topples down a mountain. But it’s not all heavy battles because the trailer does make some room for cute and heartwarming moments of Grogu, including the one where he’s peeking through a tiny telescope, or when Sigourney Weaver stops him from consuming her snacks.

There are fight scenes where Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian and Grogu fight against enemies, fly spacecrafts, and are seen sticking together throughout the whole ordeal. Fans have pointed out the absence of dialogue in the trailer and how the movie just looks like an episode of a Star Wars show, while some are appreciating just how wholesome the duo is!

But how do you feel about this big reveal? Are you excited to see The Mandalorian and Grogu on the big screen?

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to release in theaters on May 22, 2026 (USA).
