A few years back, the WWE was highly invested in the idea of a high-profile four-on-four women’s match featuring the top-tier WWE stars against the most renowned former MMA fighters signed to the promotion, including Ronda Rousey.
WWE billed this matchup as MMA’s Four Horsewomen vs. WWE’s Four Horsewomen, with Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, and Bayley representing the WWE stable, while Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir played the Four Horsewomen of MMA.
Fast forward to 2025, and the idea of the match has long been scrapped, with almost every woman in the WWE stable still holding on to their positions in the promotion. However, fans may not know much about the current condition of MMA’s Four Horsewomen, except for Rousey, because of her massive following.
So where are Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir now? Here’s more about the present state of these three Horsewomen of MMA, including a look at Rousey’s latest revelation related to MMA’s Four Horsewomen.
1. Shayna Baszler

Baszler entered the WWE in 2017 after amassing a pro-MMA record of 15-11 by fighting in renowned promotions like Strikeforce, Invicta FC, and the UFC. The former MMA star proved her wrestling skills at the first-ever Mae Young Classic tournament in the same year to earn a WWE NXT contract.
Baszler bagged the NXT Women’s World Championship for the first time at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7, 2018, less than a year after her WWE entry.

However, she stands as a two-time NXT Women’s World Champion as she claimed the same title once more before moving to the WWE main roster.
Baszler also enjoyed significant success as part of the main roster. She won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on two occasions, once with Nia Jax and the second with her fellow MMA Horsewomen stablemate, Rousey. However, inconsistent bookings and a creative limbo led to her WWE release in May 2025 (via Bleacher Report).
Nevertheless, according to reports via Cageside Seats, Baszler rejoined Triple H and Co. in July 2025, but not as an in-ring performer this time. It mentions that the 45-year-old is in her probation period to be accepted as a WWE producer.
However, in an appearance on The Ariel Hewani Show, Baszler expressed that she had been working as a producer with the “headphones” on “forever”.
That’s been a few times. I mean, as far as that whole thing [goes], sitting on a headset in NXT, I’ve been doing that [helping in production] forever. I just think no one paid attention because I was a talent. So, it was like normal to see me there.
Baszler assisted the producer of the July 8, 2025, episode of NXT, Chris Girard, throughout the show. She has been working in the same position to date.

2. Jessamyn Duke

Duke may have fought under the top MMA promotions of the world, like Invicta FC and the UFC, but a look at her pro-MMA record reveals that she didn’t enjoy much success inside the cage. ‘The Gun’ holds a 3-5 record in the nine pro-MMA fights of her career, with one of them ending in a ‘no contest’.
Duke landed a contract with the WWE in 2018. She made her first appearance at Evolution 2018, where she and her MMA Horsewomen stablemate, Marina Shafir, attacked Kairi Sane at different points of her NXT Women’s World Championship match with Shayna Baszler.
Check out Duke and Shafir’s first WWE appearance below:
Gradually, the WWE also associated Baszler with the team of Duke and Shafir, known as the MMA Horsewomen. The MMA Horsewomen trio competed in several in-house tag team matches, but Baszler was eventually removed from the team. After appearing in a few episodes of Raw Underground hosted by Shane McMahon in 2020, WWE decided to release Duke in May 2021.
Currently, she runs a YouTube channel named ‘OK Gamer’ where she posts her gaming videos and also spends a lot of time with her four-legged friend, Orson Wellington.

However, the last video on Duke’s channel was uploaded 7 months ago. Hence, it seems like she has called an end to her wrestling career and has currently adopted the role of a dog parent, leaving her YouTube channel behind as well.
3. Marina Shafir

Shafir transitioned to professional MMA with an undefeated 5-0 record as an amateur, but her pro-MMA career was nowhere near as successful as her run as an amateur. ‘The Supernova From Moldova’ holds a 1-2 record in her three pro-MMA encounters, with one fight under the renowned promotion, Invicta FC.
Shafir’s loss in her final MMA fight in 2015 propelled her to pro-wrestling as she secured a WWE contract in May 2018. But the 37-year-old’s WWE tenure is almost a replica of her ‘MMA Horsewomen’ partner, Duke’s career.
Shafir and Duke made their first appearance during the same match (Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler at Evolution 2018). The WWE ended up portraying them as the original members of the ‘MMA Horsewomen’, due to which none of them could showcase their mettle inside the ring as a solo wrestler. The WWE released her in June 2021, a month after severing their ties with Duke.
However, Shafir trusted in her individual capability as a wrestler and went on to join AEW in December 2021. She has delivered multiple memorable encounters in AEW and currently plays a member of the villainous stable, Death Riders. Shafir also makes appearances across other wrestling promotions. Additionally, she is the reigning DEFY Women’s Champion.

4. Ronda Rousey’s big revelation involving MMA Horsewomen

After multiple memorable matches and Championship reigns, Rousey left the WWE following her loss against her ‘MMA Horsewomen’ stablemate, Baszler, at SummerSlam 2023. ‘Rowdy’ cited medical reasons and her disagreement with the creative aspect of WWE as the reasons behind her departure from the promotion. (via CBS Sports)
In one of her recent appearances on The Lapsed Fan podcast, Rousey hinted that fans might never see her inside the ring again. The 38-year-old mentioned that her wrestling career is pretty much in the “rearview mirror” now.
Nevertheless, Rousey also highlighted that the abandonment of the MMA’s Four Horsewomen storyline leaves her with no desire to return to the WWE (via The Lapsed Fan). She said:
I got into WWE because I wanted to be able to wrestle with my girls, you know, the Four Horsewomen and be able to wrestle with my friends. And they [the WWE] kind of dangled that carrot for my whole run and never let it happen.
Wrestler | WWE Achievements | Finishing Moves |
Ronda Rousey | WWE Raw Women’s Championship (1 time) WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship (2 times) WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship (1 time) with Shayna Baszler | Juji-Gatame/Armbar (Straight Armbar variations) Reverse Kata-Guruma/Piper’s Pit (Spinning Samoan Drop) |
Shayna Baszler | WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship (3 times) – with Nia Jax (2) and Ronda Rousey (1) | Kirifuda Clutch / Ace of Spades (Rear naked choke transitioned from a vertical suplex) Rear Naked Choke |

Marina Shafir | — | Suloev Stretch |
So, as it stands, two out of WWE’s Four Horsewomen of MMA have already bid goodbye to their wrestling careers, with Shafir still being active and Rousey uninterested in returning to the ring.
