Ricochet Reveals the Real Reason Why Samantha Irvin Left WWE

Did WWE hold back Samantha Irvin from unlocking her true potential? On November 5, 2024, Ricochet appeared as a guest on the INSIGHT podcast, talking about how she would magnificently announce the names of the WWE Superstars, but that was not something that she really wanted to do in the first place.

He explained how Irvin was dissatisfied and believed it was not what she was “born to do.” He drew a parallel from The Rock’s career on how he quit WWE to do films, and just like him, his spouse did the same. He said,

The way I see it, it’s like she found like she found just like The Rock found this is great, I love this, I have so much respect for this, I put my heart, my soul into this. I gave it literally everything that I have to make WWE better because of the love that I have for it, but at the end of the day, it’s just not what like it’s not what I was born to do.

‘The High-Flyer’ continued on about how he felt similar emotions, and that’s why he left WWE, and how Irvin could do “more” or “do anything” at the same time. The reason is that they have a family with two kids and pets, and their upbringing would want to make her focus more on being a homemaker.

Nevertheless, he emphasized how he would support every decision of hers and how they do not have to worry about anything in the world.

Ricochet Knew Exactly When Samantha Irvin Planned to Leave WWE

The exit of Samantha Irvin from WWE was one of the most shocking events in recent times, as fans loved her announcement work and how it elevated the stardom of the in-ring performers. This was evident in how she would perfectly break down the names of the superstars into clusters, which created a jingle that perfectly resonated with the viewers and amplified the energy of the match.

On December 4, 2024, during an exclusive interview with the Barstool Rasslin’ podcast, Ricochet mentioned how she was thinking of parting ways with WWE after WrestleMania XL. He explained that ‘The Showdown of the Immortals’ was the “pinnacle,” and she started thinking about it, and it was catalyzed when he left the company to jump ship to AEW. He said,

I want to say, like last year WrestleMania, maybe she was like, ‘This is the pinnacle I’m done.’ And so I think that’s when she kind of started it, but I do, I will say I think maybe me leaving was kind of just the straw.

Though his leaving was not the primary cause of her departure, it was just another factor that she added to her list to convince her to walk away. In a separate interview with Busted Open Radio, Irvin explained how on Night 2 of WrestleMania XL, she started shedding tears when The Undertaker made his cameo against The Rock and how she chose to be a fan rather than being an announcer. She said,

I felt absolutely terrible. I felt so bad in that moment. I had a whole thing in my head, I said, ‘I have to leave now. Obviously, I’m done.’ Because I’m a terrible announcer. I prioritized being a fan in that moment, and I realized then that I will always prioritize being a fan, and I hope the fans understand that you have the best part.

Clearly, Irvin was embarrassed for not prioritizing her duty as a ring announcer. But the emotions were at an all-time high, as it was a masterpiece from WWE that beautifully concluded Roman Reigns’ dominance as ‘The OTC,’ which took five years in the making.

Will Samantha Irvin Return to WWE?

The return of Samantha Irvin has always remained a hot topic of conversation among fans, with many seeking to have her back in the company. However, it remains unclear if she will return to the company anytime soon because, just like other talents in the company, Triple H also wasted her true potential.

Hence, fans are still in a dilemma about whether they will get to see her anytime soon in the company. But during an interview (via WrestlingWorld), she gave a glimmer of hope to the WWE Universe, saying, “That I will do,” and how she has been a massive fan of wrestling and how she has to etch her legacy in the company.
