One of the 6 OG Avengers Supports New U.S. Congress Legislation Involving Israel

Mark Ruffalo rejoiced on social media after the Congressional Progressive Caucus chose to endorse Representative Delia Ramirez’s Block the Bombs Act, which seeks to push for new restrictions on United States aid to Israel amid ongoing conflict over disputed territory.

The actor, who famously starred as part of the MCU’s Avengers team, wrote on Twitter:

This is BIG: @usprogressives voted to endorse @repdeliaramirez’s Block the Bombs Act. The 97-member Progressive Caucus is the first caucus in Congress to endorse a bill to stop sending Israel weapons being used to destroy Gaza. Our advocacy is working! I thank the 50 House… pic.twitter.com/qgqzPqMatU

Ruffalo’s outspoken support for Palestine got him embroiled in several controversies, but the 57-year-old star is not showing any signs of backing down, as evident in his latest celebration of CPC’s support for the new bill.

What Is the Block the Bombs Act? Mark Ruffalo Celebrates as CPC Backs Controversial Bill

Ruffalo’s recent update is proof of his unwavering support for the cause, wherein he also expressed gratitude for the bill’s co-sponsors and the committee for establishing and reinforcing a timely political movement.

Introduced on May 21, the Block the Bombs Act (HR 3565) aims “to provide for a limitation on the transfer of defense articles and defense services to Israel.” Apart from Rep. Ramirez of Illinois, the bill is now backed by 49 co-sponsors. Ramirez said in a statement via an exclusive story from Zeteo:

The Block the Bombs bill is the first step toward oversight and accountability for the murder of children with US-made, taxpayer-funded weapons. In the face of authoritarian leaders perpetrating a genocidal campaign, Block the Bombs is the minimum action Congress must take.

Meanwhile, CPC Chair Rep. Greg Casar also said:

The United States cannot continue to send bombs we know will be used to commit terrible atrocities in Gaza.

The said bill specifically seeks to halt shipments of bunker-busting bombs, Joint Direct Attack Munitions, SPICE gliding bomb assemblies, 120mm tank ammunition, and 155mm artillery ammunition, among others. (Via Zeteo)

Ruffalo is one of many public figures who have been vocal about their stance on the issue. Other Hollywood stars, such as Cynthia Nixon and Morgan Spector, have also displayed their support for the bill.

Ruffalo Continues to Express Solidarity With Palestinians Amid Ongoing War

Last year, the actor also called for a ceasefire in Gaza while attending the DGA awards in Beverly Hills. “This bombing isn’t working, we’re not going to bomb our way to peace,” he said via Deadline.

Ruffalo then asked leaders of the world to demand a ceasefire and give peace a chance, also stating that if violence further escalates, it might soon become a regional war that the United States will be dragged into.
