Marlon Wayans is back in the franchise for Scary Movie 6, reprising the role of Shorty Meeks. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Wayans states:
I mean, you know, I’m just a fan of the whole genre, man. I Know What You Did Last Summer may have something in there. I think the Scream franchise is always a great one. I think Heretic was a wonderful film. Longlegs. Get Out. Nope. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. Sinners.
The franchise began with Scary Movie, which was released on July 7, 2000, and was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. With only a small budget of $19M, the movie would go on to gross $278M (via BoxOfficeMojo). This spawned a franchise of a total of five movies. Here are some details regarding the upcoming movie.

Scary Movie 6 was announced last year at CinemaCon and is set to hit theaters on June 12, 2026. The Wayans brothers penned the script for Michael Tiddes, who will be at the helm for Scary Movie 6.
Anna Faris and Regina Hall, in a joint statement, said (via THR):
We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).
This would mark the first time the two actors would reunite on screen for the franchise since Scary Movie 2 in 2001. Given the statement, we can expect a lot of the cast to be getting together, including –

Scary Movie 5 was released the same year as The Conjuring in 2013, so there’s no doubt we will see the franchise spoofing the Hell out of the movie for its sequel (pun intended). There are numerous characters like Annabelle and the nun, Valek, that are just waiting to be parodied.
From the world of zombies, the movies have not yet touched the vast material of Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later franchise – 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, 28 Years Later.
2025 saw the release of multiple horror movies, notably Weapons, that dominated the box office. The movie follows creepy kids running around, which is ripe material for the movie to spoof.
Ethan Hawke’s The Black Phone was a cleverly written film with a creepy protagonist who wears a mask and kidnaps children. Scary Movie 6 can combine Weapons and The Black Phone for an interesting comedy skit.
