Wrestlepalooza 2025 was a memorable night for the WWE universe. Not only was it the maiden WWE event streaming on ESPN in the US, but a high-stakes, legendary clash between John Cena and Brock Lesnar also took place at the PLE event. But far from the expectations, the professional wrestling world witnessed total domination from ‘The Beast Incarnate’.
The match became so one-sided that it turned unbearable for John Cena to be inside the ring with Brock Lesnar. So much so that, according to an Instagram video posted by Breaking Kayfabe, Cena allegedly told Lesnar ‘enough’ while getting decimated at the hands of the Beast Incarnate.

Fans’ reactions to the encounter depended on whose side they were on. While Cena supporters called the match uncalled for, Lesnar enthusiasts opined that it was necessary to establish Lesnar as a dominant force once again. However, almost everyone agreed that ‘The Beast Incarnate’ completely decimated the 17-time World Champion.

Jealous that Cena always has been and always will be a bigger star than him, so he’s doing everything he can to wreck his retirement tour.
However, the flip side to these remarks was also present in substantial numbers. There was an increasingly popular feeling that Lesnar was just too overwhelming for Cena, and while one could have their differences with the creative heads over the booking, the fact that the former Universal Champion was always going to dominate Cena at Wrestlepalooza was evident.

Apart from the expected annihilation that Lesnar delivered inside the squared circle to the ‘never-seen 17’, a major highlight of the encounter between them was that the WWE universe was evidently frustrated by the fact that the clash was a squash match in Lesnar’s favor. While some called it a waste of Cena’s retirement tour, others questioned the monotonous flow of the encounter.
Was Brock Lesnar vs John Cena Boring to Watch?
John Cena and Brock Lesnar are two of the most legendary performers inside the ring. Both WWE superstars can create iconic moments as they have so far during the course of their respective careers. However, the way WWE decided to move along with this match raised several questions in the minds of wrestling enthusiasts.
The entire match lasted for only 9 minutes, and within that time, a 17-time World Champion was completely dominated by someone who had not stepped into the ring ever since he was defeated by Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023.
Additionally, many fans raised the fact that the technical aspect of the match was far more unable and shocking to witness since both Lesnar and Cena are known for their abilities as professional wrestlers.
Fans repeatedly pointed out that the ‘Beast Incarnate’ unleashed the same move against John Cena again and again. Without a proper build-up and storyline, and ultimately the lack of proper competition between them inside the ring, the overall experience of the encounter turned out to be a misery for several WWE fans.
With the company relying too much on creating extended story lines, it remains to be seen whether this squash match between Cena and Lesnar was a part of Triple H’s plans or just complacency and failure to create nuances in a heated feud.
