Is the P-92 Warrant Pistol Any Good in Helldivers 2?

When you’re knee-deep in the chaos of Helldivers 2 (especially with Into the Unjust’s Hive Worlds planets), your secondary weapon’s value increases a lot. Among various options available, one name that often sparks the most curiosity is the P-92 Warrant.

And for good reasons, as it’s a pistol that promises futuristic firepower with guided (and un-guided), jet-propelled rounds. But does it live up to the hype, or is it just an expensive gimmick? Let’s dive in.

The P-92 Warrant in Helldivers 2: A Tech Marvel with Limitations

At first glance, the P-92 Warrant stands out as one of the most unique pistols in Helldivers 2. It not only fires jet-propelled, homing rounds, something no other sidearm offers, but in Guided Mode, its bullets can even curve around cover to hit enemies.

This guided mode makes it fantastic against agile or airborne foes, and it shines even more in low-visibility conditions like fog, sandstorms, or blizzards. For the stealth enjoyer, it can even lock onto Stalkers while they’re cloaked.

Sounds incredible, right? On paper, yes. But on the battlefield, things are a bit more complicated:

  • Even though lock-on time is quick in Guided Mode, the weapon won’t fire unless you have a lock on a valid target, which slows down your reaction time in hectic firefights.
  • Against armored enemies, it’s almost useless, as its armor penetration is only Medium (AP3).
  • If you want to evade the lock-on system and switch to Non-Guided Mode, you’re left with a fairly mediocre pistol.

In short, the P-92 Warrant is fun to have and flashy to shoot, but it is a little far from becoming a must-have. Overall, it’s a niche weapon that experienced players with a strong loadout can utilize effectively.

Unlock most weapons or stratagems in Helldivers 2, The P-92 Warrant isn’t unlocked by default or by buying a warbond. To unlock it, you’ll need to purchase it during the Force of Law rotation in the Superstore for 300 Super Credits.

That’s a very steep price for a niche weapon, especially for new players, who are still trying to unlock essential weapons and stratagems from Warbonds (each premium costs 1000 SC, and a legendary one costs 1500 SC).

If you’re early in the game, your credits are better spent on high-impact warbonds, like the recent Dust Devils Warbond or older warbonds that offer good and versatile weapons/stratagems like the Grenade Pistol, Ultimatum, or Senator.

In the end, for veterans who already unlocked most of the meta gear, the P-92 can be a fun weapon to spice up a loadout and surprise squad. But don’t expect it to become your main sidearm.
