Castor Woods is not only the place for Kyle Crane’s story, but it also holds many secrets in Dying Light: The Beast. There are plenty of side quests players can dive into. One of the most intriguing ones has to be the Hydro Puzzle, which is filled with puzzles, locked safes, and hidden objectives.
It not only challenges players to solve some of the trickiest puzzles for the water supply issues, but also opens the way for one of the game’s most fun Easter eggs. Let’s dive into how to solve the Hydro-Puzzle step by step.
Step-by-Step Hydro Puzzle Walkthrough in Dying Light: The Beast
To even get the side quest in Dying Light: The Beast, players need to make significant progress in the main campaign and complete the Power Gambit main quest. This will activate the first Relay Station near the Town Hall. This will make Pietro contact Kyle, asking for help with the failing water system.
After accepting the quest, follow these steps:
This will lead to the finale, and you will discover that the Chief Engineer and his family were the ones who shut off the water supply to draw attention. Then simply clear the zombie-filled path so Town Hall survivors can rescue them.
What You’ll Earn From the Side Quest (and the Sewer Secret You’ll Love)
After completing the Hydro Puzzle side quest, it will reward players with 10,000 EXP, the Bruiser Bracer, and 2x Beginner Manual Pages. However, the real reward for the players will be the easter egg that the quest also unlocks (by unlocking the sewer system near Town Hall).
The Easter egg is connected to the sewer environment. If you decide to enter the sewer from the location shown in the map above, and go to the end of the sewer, you will see a special nod to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with various pizza boxes, a rat (dead one sadly), and the weapon.
It’s a clever bonus for the players who are through with their exploration. It also makes the Hydro Puzzle side quest more than just another side mission; it’s a wink to pop culture hidden in the apocalypse.
