Helldivers 2 is a game about worshipping Democracy and killing alien bugs, and the best part of it all is that you can just dive right in guns blazing. But there is one Stratagem in the game that can obliterate enemies with just a little bit of prep time, and we are talking about the Quasar Cannon. So, here is a guide that will make the Quasar Cannon look like your best friend that you can bring to a war. Let’s get started.
LAS-99 Quasar Cannon’s Stats and Traits From Helldivers 2

The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon is an energy-based anti-tank S upport Weapon Stratagem that charges up to fire a powerful, explosive energy burst, and it also has a long cooldown period after firing. Unlike other anti-tank weapons that require backpack support, this one is a standalone powerhouse whose greatest strengths are its unlimited ammo and extreme damage, but with a significant weakness, and that is its time-gated mechanics.
STATS | DETAILS |
Permit Type | Supply |
Unlock Cost | 7500 Requisition Slips |
Traits | Support Weapon, Hellpod, Anti-Tank, Chargeup |
Call-in Time | 7.75 seconds |
Uses | Unlimited |
Damage | 2000 Projectile 150 Explosion |
The Quasar Cannon fires a high-velocity energy projectile that requires you to charge up the gun for three seconds before you can fire. This means that you need to anticipate your shots and not wait until the last second to aim at your enemy.
While this weapon has no bullet drop off, making it highly accurate and able to literally one-shot enemies if hit at the right spots, after firing the weapon, you cannot fire another shot for approximately 12 seconds, which becomes the weapon’s biggest limitation.
This Support Weapon has 2000 Projectile damage and 150 explosion damage, which is great against literally every enemy in Helldivers 2, and it has a call-in time of 7.75 seconds (4.75 seconds if upgraded). The Quasar Cannon can be unlocked at the Patriotic Administration Center for 7500 Requisition Slips at level 18.
Tactics and Strategies for the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon

If Batman has taught you anything, then you will definitely understand the true power and value behind a good enough prep time, because to use the Quasar Cannon effectively, you need to play smart and work with your squad.
The three-second charge time is kinda annoying, but if you start charging your shot before an enemy gets too close, it will literally blast your enemy to space. If a Charger is sprinting at you, start charging your shot when it is a good distance away, so the shot is ready to go and you have enough time to properly aim at its head.
There is also a quirky but really effective tactic, which is known as the Quasar Cannon Shuffle, where multiple people in your squad bring a Quasar Cannon, and after one person fires their shot, they can swap to the other one. This allows you and your squad to bypass the long cooldown of the Cannon and continually fire this beast on high-priority targets.
There are no proper builds if you just decided to rock the Quasar Cannon in battle, but since you are vulnerable during the three-second charging and 12-second cooldown, you should definitely invest in a Jump pack to quickly create distance from enemies, giving you the upper hand. You can also get a Guard Dog that will deal damage to smaller enemies while you obliterate the tanks into thinner pieces.
The Quassar Cannon is a high-skill weapon that rewards its players for being tactical and patient. If you manage to master its charge time and cooldown, then you will be able to eliminate even the toughest enemies that Helldivers 2 throws at you.
