“He didn’t kill anybody”: D4vd Was Framed in Celeste’s Murder, FaZe Jason Puts His Reputation on the Line

FaZe Clan member Jason ‘Jasontheween’ has publicly defended singer David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, after the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed a decomposing body was found in an impounded Tesla registered under the artist’s name. The body was discovered in a tow yard in Hollywood.

The LAPD identified the victim as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who had been reported missing since April. According to NBC Los Angeles, Rivas’s body was found stuffed inside a bag in the trunk of a Tesla that was abandoned in the Hollywood Hills before being towed. During a Twitch stream on September 11, Jason broke his silence, saying bluntly:

He didn’t kill anybody, bro. There’s no way. He’s on tour. He literally performed yesterday….. Either he was framed, or my theory is somebody killed someone and stole D4vd’s car, and left it in the trunk. But I’m also not a detective. So… innocent until proven guilty. ‘Stealing a Tesla?’ Hey, bro, there’s a lot of crazy hackers out here. There’s a lot of crazy hackers! Plus, it was impounded, right?

While D4vd hasn’t issued any public comment, his team has reportedly cooperated with authorities, per NBC Los Angeles. He performed in Wisconsin the same day Celeste Rivas’ body was discovered (via Page Six). His connection to the case has led to canceled tour dates, brand fallout, and a search of a Hollywood Hills residence where he had been staying.

Celeste Rivas’ body was identified through forensics, and police noted she had a “Shhhh” tattoo on her finger, the same design D4vd appears to have. Her mother told TMZ she believed her daughter had been romantically involved with someone named David.

D4vd Under Investigation After Celeste’s Murder; Tour Cancelled, Home Searched by Police

Authorities confirmed that a house in Hollywood Hills associated with D4vd was searched on Wednesday night. TMZ reported that LAPD Homicide detectives retrieved evidence, including a computer and several bags of items. LAPD also stated that they are reviewing the materials and continuing to follow leads. LAPD spokesperson informed PEOPLE:

Several items of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed by detectives in the coming days.

Following the discovery of Celeste Rivas’s body, D4vd’s upcoming shows in Los Angeles and at the Grammy Museum were removed from official listings. Though his San Francisco concert on Friday was still active at the time, TMZ reported that all remaining tour dates have been canceled.

Celeste was last enrolled at Lakeland Village High School. A former teacher confirmed she had met D4vd through social media. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office said the Tesla was found abandoned near Bluebird Avenue and Doheny Drive and was towed about five days before the body was found. Rivas was wearing a tube top, leggings, and a yellow bracelet.

Her height, hairstyle, and identifying tattoo helped in the forensics process. At the time of the discovery, D4vd was actively performing on his Withered world tour. He has not been named as a suspect, but remains under investigation as the registered owner of the vehicle.

D4vd Dropped by Crocs and Hollister After Teen Girl’s Body Found in His Impounded Tesla

Brands have already begun distancing themselves. Crocs and Hollister issued a joint statement announcing the removal of D4vd from their ‘Dream Drop’ campaign, which launched on September 3. The companies said in a message (per WWD):

We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues.

Campaign photos featuring D4vd have since been taken down from their platforms, though the rest of the collection remains available online. D4vd became widely known for his viral hits Romantic Homicide and Here With Me.

Faze Jason may be confident in his defense, but the facts are far from settled. A minor was found dead in a car registered to one of the biggest breakout artists of the past three years. Investigators are treating this case seriously, and while no charges have been filed, the situation is growing more intense by the day.
