HBO 2026 Release Schedule: House of the Dragon Season 3, Euphoria Season 3, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and More

In the aftermath of the 77th Emmys, it is time for HBO shows to regroup and analyze their standings. Series like Hacks that had already planned out a final season, are now considering an extension after Emmy win. Others, like Harry Potter, are yet to get started. Elsewhere, established IPs like Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory are looking to expand their universe.

While details are scarce and audience demands are high, most HBO shows can be guaranteed to deliver consistently high-quality projects that will surpass fan expectations. Below is a concise list exploring all the upcoming seasons of the most anticipated shows on HBO, along with their plot, cast, Emmy wins, and release details:

House of the Dragon Season 3: 2026

The popular Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon, has suffered under the formidable legacy of its progenitor. However, the HBO prequel is gearing up to be one of the most anticipated dramas on the platform after the buildup and climactic finale of Season 2.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon is now slated for an early summer 2026 release. Deadline reports that it could be around June, as supported by HBO CEO Casey Bloys’ statement: “I think it’ll be just outside of [the 2026 Emmy eligibility window,]” which closes on May 31, 2026.

Season 3, which started filming in March 2025 and is expected to wrap around October, will feature returning stars Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Ewan Mitchell, and Fabien Frankel as key players in the upcoming war.

The Pitt Season 2: 2026

The Pitt is an unexpected champion in the medical procedural genre, not only at the Emmys but also among fans and the highly competitive streaming industry, too. Amid an abundance of shows like ER, House, and Grey’s Anatomy, The Pitt is winning accolades for its realistic portrayal of the chaos and intricacies of a hospital emergency room without turning it into a soap opera.

With its first season being the talk of the town in 2025, the medical drama is getting ready for its second lap already, with a release date scheduled as early as January 2026. Bloys said of the series:

To come out first season, not only to get nominated and to have Katherine [LaNasa] and Noah [Wyle] win, but for the show to win, that’s a huge deal, so I’m proud of them. It was a very exciting night.

The show won won Outstanding Drama Series in its debut season itself, which is a huge achievement. Season 2 will follow the same format as the first and focus on delivering long-format seasons (15 episodes each) in close intervals (a year apart) as opposed to Netflix’s model of brief 8-episode seasons spaced 3-4 years apart.

Emmy: 12 nominations, 5 wins

Euphoria Season 3: 2026

One of HBO’s most successful properties, the star-studed teen drama is scheduled to conclude with Season 3. Bloys revealed to Deadline that one of the main reasons behind ending the show was its lead cast roster.

I’ve never had a show with that many legitimate movie stars. So as you can imagine, the scheduling is hard enough with actors having multiple jobs, but these are probably three or four of the biggest movie stars working of their generation, so we’ll see. But I’m excited to have the third season coming.

Bloys was, of course, talking about Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi who are not only the hottest sensations in the world right now, but also the busiest.

Industry Season 4: 2026

Although not as popular as its companions on the list, the financial drama is one of the top rated shows on HBO. Ranked 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, it stars Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) and David Jonsson (The Long Walk, Alien: Romulus) among others, and centers on the recession and job crisis after the 2008 financial crash.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: 2026

This series is the second Game of Thrones spin-off after House of the Dragon and will be based on George R.R. Martin‘s Tales of Dunk and Egg. The official logline of the show on IMDb reads:

A century before GOT, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire, Egg, wandered through Westeros while the Targaryen dynasty ruled the Iron Throne, and dragons were still remembered. Great destinies and enemies await the incomparable friends.

Peter Claffley will play the naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, with Dexter Sol Ansell as his diminutive squire, Egg. The show will premiere on HBO in January 2026.

Stuart Fails To Save the Universe

This highly anticipated spin-off to The Big Bang Theory was greenlit in July 2025 and is designed as “a complex science fiction story,” according to Big Bang co-creator Bill Prady. He will executive produce the spin-off along with Chuck Lorre and Zak Penn. The official logline of the series reads (Deadline):

SFTSTU is set in the future, after the events in Big Bang. In it, comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon.

Deadline also expands on the overall tone and direction of the series, claiming that the multiverse will be filled with characters from the original series, leaving room for multiple cameos, including the device creators, Sheldon and Leonard, played by Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki, respectively.

Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.

At the Emmys afterparty, Bloys said to Deadline, “I don’t know that we’ve given you [a release timeline], but how about I say in 2026. I’m very excited, it’s really funny.” Though an optimistic claim, one cannot hold him on that promise given that the show is yet to announce a filming date yet.

Harry Potter: 2027

Last, but not at all the least, HBO’s Harry Potter reboot is set to be the biggest phenomenon in the coming years. The series will be divided into 7 seasons with each of its seasons adapting one book from J.K. Rowling‘s mythology. The series is set to premiere on HBO in 2027.

The cast roster has been decided and filming began in July 2025. The HBO series has an extensive 10-year plan for its expansive saga that will cost around $1.2 billion. Warner Bros. has gone so far as to construct a fully functional town at Leavesden for the setting of Hogwarts, that will grant the series a more realistic appeal rather than focusing on CGI and special effects.

Below is a list of the core cast of Harry Potter:

The jury is still out on who will play the big bad, He Who Shall Not Be Named aka Lord Voldermort, with a majority calling for Cillian Murphy’s casting.

Other projects like The White Lotus (Season 4) and True Detective (Season 5) have no updates regarding their release dates. However, Bloys did indulge the fans with some exciting secrets: White Lotus S4 will be set in France and True Detective S5 could potentially star Nicolas Cage.
