Pedro Pascal is once again receiving negative attention as he shows support for late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. This has something to do with Gina Carano‘s firing from The Mandalorian. After Kimmel was fired for his comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination and Donald Trump, he and his talk show were suspended by ABC.
While we don’t know if or when Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to our screens, we do know that tons of celebrities have spoken up in his favor, calling out the network and even the government for restricting free speech.
Among his supporters is Pascal, who posted a photo with Kimmel with the caption, “Standing with you @jimmykimmellive. Defend #FreeSpeech Defend #DEMOCRACY.”

Pascal also reposted Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA’s statements, calling out the decision on his Instagram story. In another story, he reposted a post that called this move “fascism.“
Pascal, who is used to having his every move scrutinized, received unending hate from people for not standing up for Gina Carano when she got fired.
Why didn't you stand with Gina Carano, you hypocrite
How’s Gina doing? Did you even feel bad for not standing with her, or were you holding another knife for her back?
Pedro Pascal, why weren’t you “standing with” your real co-star Gina Carano? You fraud. https://t.co/pZxsBpedSV pic.twitter.com/58N99acDQ4
Definitely some harsh words there. Of course, Pascal is no stranger to online backlash for whatever he does. Whether it’s his relationship with his co-stars or his political views, the actor has been criticized over and over again.
Gina Carano Lawsuit Slammed Disney & Lucasfilm for Ignoring Pedro Pascal’s Posts
Gina Carano played the role of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian before she was fired by Lucasfilm over her social media posts. In 2024, she filed a lawsuit against the company, citing wrongful termination and sex discrimination. The lawsuit was funded by Elon Musk.
The lawsuit contained a section called Social Media Posts from Carano’s Co-Stars. In this segment, she questioned Disney and Lucasfilm for not taking similar action against her co-stars for their social media posts.
She cited a post by Pascal where he had posted a photo of Bert and Ernie, Disney-owned characters, waving a transgender and LGBTQ+ pride flag, promoting Black Lives Matter and Defund the Police slogans. In another post, Pascal compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.
Her lawsuit read (via Independent):
Upon information and belief, Pascal was not disciplined, required to review documentaries on any of these topics or speak to individuals with contrary points of view, or pressured to apologize for any of his posts. His employment was not terminated, and Defendants made no public statements about his social media posts, much less refer to them as ‘abhorrent.‘
In August this year, the actress settled her lawsuit against Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Co., leaving fans hopeful for a future collaboration.
Pedro Pascal’s Bond with Gina Carano and the Time He Tried to Help Her
Netizens might not be happy with Pascal supporting Kimmel and not Carano, but the truth is that the two actors are on good terms and there’s no bad blood between them.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Carano admitted that Pascal tried to help her in his own way as she received harsh criticism for her opinions on pronouns. In 2020, the actress was asked to show support for the trans community, and she ended up putting “boop/bop/beep” in her Twitter bio. What was meant as a joke turned ugly really fast.
She stated that Pascal educated her on the transgender community and also gave her some advice on dealing with the backlash. “He was telling me, ‘Just put #transrights in your feed. Do it and they’ll leave you alone.’” While she appreciated the help, she didn’t follow Pascal’s advice as it’s not her “style to put hashtag anything.“
Carano also recalled that when The Mandalorian actor Carl Weathers passed away, Pascal texted her and they had a beautiful conversation. She said,
Me and Pedro were so close. He knows 1,000 percent I’m not homophobic or transphobic. He texted me after Carl Weathers passed away. We had our conversation and it was beautiful.
Carano added that they left their conversation with the promise of giving each other a big hug whenever they meet next. While we don’t know where their relationship stands, neither has spoken ill of the other.
