The controversy surrounding d4vd, amidst the brutal murder case of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, appears to have embroiled yet another person in it: Mark Morales, the alleged bodyguard of David Anthony Burke. Per the latest reports, there’s a claim that he is even wanted by the FBI in ‘Suspicion for Accessory of Murder.’ But this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Recently, citing reports, @CheesurUpdate on X accused MarkyNextDoor, the partnered Twitch and Kick streamer, of being the bodyguard of Burke, “who allegedly played a big role in the D4vd-Celeste murder,” and who is currently “under investigation by the FBI.” Attached with it was a poster with all the details about the wanted person, i.e., Morales.
However, fact-checking of the claim about Morales being on the ‘Wanted’ list in the Celeste murder case reported it to be false and misleading: “This is a fabricated post with a false FBI-style wanted poster intentionally designed to mislead the public on a false accusation of streamer ‘MarkyNextDoor” of being involved with the current D4vd investigation. The latter has already spoken out and denied the allegations.” So that’s that.
Mark Morales is Denying Any Association With D4vd Whatsoever
There was another Discord chat screenshot shared widely on X (via @boizuela), with the conversation allegedly being between Morales, d4vd, and Celeste. It had a text from @Marky that read, “heyy celeste imy”, to which a text from @celeste read, “hii marky u did great”. This was followed by a text from @d4vd, which read, “facts best bodyguard he’d kill for me
This conversation snippet ignited another rumor that MarkyNextDoor allegedly had a “secret relationship” with Hernandez, with a few speculating that Burke “may be innocent.” However, Morales recently took to his X handle @MarkyNxtDoor to clear the air about this and prove himself innocent. He wrote,
Idk why someone trolling a comm has even gotten me to this point but… The Discord message/screenshot with me added in is fake and isn’t even me, nor is the message even real. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her families. May God bless and keep them.
Besides this, he also clarified all the doubts surrounding Morales’s allegedly being Burke’s bodyguard, writing,
Brother I never worked for anybody and never met either person a day in my life I genuinely have 0 association with any of them lmfao
Another X handle confronted him with the question that he said he was d4vd’s ‘bodyguard in 2022,’ adding further questions on if he knew ‘the age of the girl that (Burke) was with’ or ‘did he at least tell you how old she was?’ To this, Morales responded,
someone came into my chat and asked me if I bodyguarded for him, I said I totally did sarcastically, the clip cuts off when I say I worked security for him when I was live everyday streaming, never been to a “Dreamhack” a day in my life
Judging from these allegations and responses, it looks like this might be yet another conspiracy theory that fans have come up with in the wake of the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. That said, all reports and claims regarding the same might as well be taken with a pinch of salt right now, unless they have otherwise been officially verified by trustworthy sources.
The Latest Update on Celeste Rivas Hernandezʼs Murder Case
Celeste Rivas Hernandez went missing last year in April, and on September 8, 2025, the decomposing remains of her body parts were found in the trunk of a Tesla in Los Angeles. The car was reportedly registered under the name of David Anthony Burke, 20.
Soon after, the LAPD carried out a search at a Hollywood Hills home where d4vd was recently staying. Notably enough, that’s the place from where the car was towed and taken to the tow yard before Hernandez’s body was discovered.
Since the cause of her death has yet to be determined, authorities are reportedly not treating it as a homicide, as of now. Burke, on the other hand, is currently on his Withered World Tour, but a spokesperson for him told NBC News that he “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
That said, as of now, Burke has not been charged with a crime, with the authorities yet to officially establish any official ties of his to the case beyond the point that Hernandez’s remains were found in his abandoned car.
