Every Major God Valley Character Shanks Can Beat in Their Prime, Ranked

The God Valley Incident in One Piece led to a legendary clash between the Rocks Pirates, Roger Pirates, and the Marines. Coincidentally, Shanks is also from the same island and was born a year prior to the hunting competition. It might be interesting to see how Shanks measures up against each of the major characters who were present during the incident. Who can Shanks beat amongst them?

12. Shepherd Sommers

Sommers was present during the God Valley Incident and was bickering with Figarland Garling about who would win Shakyaku. He is a God’s Knight and a powerful fighter. He even overpowered Vice Admiral Saul without receiving any damage. He has the Iba Iba no Mi Devil Fruit, which lets him create and control thorny vines. He can also summon magic circles to teleport. He is also effectively immortal and can heal instantaneously from injuries.

However, once he is wounded by Supreme King Haki, he cannot heal. These attacks slow down his regeneration, and he feels great pain. Shanks, being an Advanced user of Conqueror Haki, can easily overpower Sommers. Sommers will not be able to regenerate if Shanks hits him with Haki-infused attacks.

11. Kaido

Shanks seems to have superior Haki when compared to Kaido. To put things into perspective. Shanks faced the awakened Kid and nearly killed him with a single attack. Kaido was unable to defeat even Luffy and had to keep battling the Straw Hat. Considering Shanks only had to hit Kid once, it might not even be one of his strongest attacks.

Shanks might also be superior to Kaido in terms of speed since he could even outlast Kizaru in a non-canon movie. Kizaru has the speed of light, and Kaido cannot be faster than that. Additionally, it is canon that Shanks did not let Kaido reach Marineford to battle Whitebeard. This means that Shanks can overpower Kaido in One Piece.

10. Shiki

Shiki, the admiral of the Golden Lion Pirates, wreaked havoc on the seas during Roger’s time. He is also considered one of Roger’s greatest rivals. Currently, he is considered to be on par with Sengoku, Garp, Whitebeard, and even Roger. At one point, he even fought Garp and Sengoku simultaneously, which destroyed half of Marineford. Shiki escaped from Impel Down completely on his own.

However, Shiki has never canonically used Haki in One Piece, which gives Shanks a major boost as a prime Haki user. Shanks’ Haki might even counter Shiki’s aerial advantage. Shanks, as a modern alite, could definitely overpower Shiki, even at his prime.

9. Gunko

Normally, Gunko might have been one of the easiest enemies to defeat for Shanks. However, she is at her prime when she is possessed by Imu. Imu can use all of their abilities via Gunko’s body. This act ended with the Imu empowered Gunko incapacitating many giants with Conqueror Haki. In fact, Imu even made her use Abyss to transform several giants into demons.

Imu is the reason why Gunko has been kept in a somewhat middle position. Shanks can normally defeat Gunko, but the presence of Imu’s consciousness and abilities in her body can make the battle particularly tough.

8. Big Mom

Big Mom and Kaido are somewhat evenly matched. Her superhuman strength, ability to wreak havoc, and sink battleships effortlessly do not need any introduction. She has endurance, agility, a powerful Devil Fruit, and mastery over all three types of Haki.

She was defeated by the combined efforts of Law and Kid. However, Shanks has already shown that he is powerful enough to one-shot Kid. It is also highly likely that he can take on both Kid and Law at the same time, which means he might be more powerful than Big Mom.

Shanks might also have better control of his Haki, and his speed can exploit the comparably slower movement of Big Mom. While Big Mom might endure to some extent, Shanks will prevail as the winner.

7. Scopper Gaban

Scopper Gaban was at his prime somewhere around his 30s, which is when the God Valley Incident might have taken place. Once the left-hand man of Roger, he was almost on par with Rayleigh. Even at his old age, his strength is monstrous, which means that at his prime, it was extremely powerful. Of course, he is also able to use all three types of Haki.

However, One Piece does not specify exactly how powerful Gaban’s Conqueror Haki usage is. It is safe to assume that Shanks might have been able to overpower Gaban even when he was in his prime. Shanks’ superior speed and Haki might defeat Gaban.

6. Figarland Garling

As of right now, Shanks is one of the most powerful characters in One Piece. Shanks is much more powerful than Garling at the moment, and their fight might even become a necessary event in One Piece. Garling might have this same form of immortality as Sommers, which means that Shanks will be able to curb his regenerative abilities with Conqueror Haki.

So far, not much is known about Garlin’s combat prowess other than the fact that he is dangerous in terms of World Noble level. There is a high chance of Shanks being able to defeat Garling.

5. Silvers Rayleigh

Silvers Rayleigh used to be the right-hand man of Roger, and obviously, he is a man of significant strength. Yet, plenty of fans believe that Shanks would most likely win against prime Rayleigh. He can also use Supreme King Haki, but Shanks’ mastery over Conqueror Haki is on another level. At the same time, Rayleigh’s combat experience is greater than that of Shanks.

4. Whitebeard

Whitebeard was the rival of Roger in his prime. Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi also creates a significant advantage for him. Whitebeard can cause great earthquakes and even tsunamis with his Devil Fruit powers, something that Shanks is unable to do yet. Of course, Shanks possesses Conqueror Haki, and he even knocked out the subordinates of Whitebeard. His powers have only grown since then.

Whitebeard was the strongest man in the world after Roger, right up until his demise. Without being affected by his disease, Whitebeard would be able to take on Shanks without any issue.

3. Monkey D. Garp

Garp is on the same level as Roger and Whitebeard. He teamed up with Roger to defeat Xebec, and his powers have also grown significantly. His Galaxy Impact can level a vast area of land. Both Garp and Shanks are fruitless. Garp’s old age might be a disadvantage now, but if he is considered in his prime, then Shanks would not stand a chance.

Garp’s raw strength can easily overpower Shanks, and his Haki is used to rival that of Roger. Shanks would not be able to breach his defenses

2. Gol D. Roger

Shanks might be powerful, but he is far from the level of prime Roger. Roger used to be the pirate king, the strongest of them all. Shanks is still not on the same level, and there are plenty of other characters who are presently stronger than Shanks. At the same time, Shanks has definitely powered up and might be close to attaining Roger’s level.

Shanks might be able to push Roger to use all of his powers, but it is not enough to defeat the legendary pirate. Roger’s feats alone are a telltale sign that Shanks will lose to him. Shanks himself idolizes Roger, and that’s for a reason.

1. Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks was a huge threat in the One Piece world, which is why he had to be killed. It took both Garp and Roger’s combined efforts to defeat this monstrous villain. He is implied to be a God-tier threat and could not be stopped by any means. No wonder the Marines and pirates had to get together to defeat him.

Shanks is not yet on the same level as Roger, which means he will definitely lose to Rocks, especially if the latter fought at his prime. Shanks would lose easily to the biggest villain in the entire franchise, and it’s not up for debate. Shanks might become even more powerful, but that hasn’t happened yet.
