There’s a lot in store for every Game of Thrones fan since we have a couple of upcoming spinoffs on deck, but it’s a shame HBO decided some of the planned projects they had before were not worth the effort. It’s understandable why the network canceled these potential shows. They didn’t think they would draw in high viewership.
While some of these titles are better on the shelf, there are some that looked very promising, but since HBO resolved not to take the risk on these, they have been scrapped for good (or for the time being).
4. Flea Bottom
Longtime viewers of Game of Thrones are certainly familiar with what Flea Bottom is. It is the slum district of King’s Landing, which means the planned series would have explored and shown more of the poor and dirty areas of Westeros. While many potential storylines could happen here, perhaps the network made the right call to cancel it.

3. Jon Snow
The Jon Snow series almost came right after the conclusion of Game of Thrones. Since the original series dismayed fans, many looked forward to the Kit Harington-led spinoff for some sort of closure or perhaps redemption.
Unfortunately, the project was shelved for the time being, as the actor revealed via Screen Rant,
Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell…
He also added that they tried to look at every angle to see if Jon Snow’s story is worth revisiting. The network made the right choice, shelving this since there was no existing source material for the project in the first place.
2. Bloodmoon
One of the highly anticipated spin-offs back then, Bloodmoon was supposed to tell the events of the Long Night set during the Age of Heroes. It’s a shame the network did not pursue this plan because it would have explored the origin of the White Walkers, the Children of the Forest, and the establishment of the Night’s Watch.
According to Robert Greenblatt, former chairman of HBO’s parent company WarnerMedia, via The Hollywood Reporter, the plan was scrapped due to a lack of “depth and richness that the original series’ pilot had.
1. The Sea Snake (Live-Action)
This spinoff featuring Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake himself, was originally called Nine Voyages. After the title change, it was also decided that they would no longer pursue a live-action adaptation, eventually settling for an animated series. (Via Deadline)
While fans will still have the same story, it’s a massive loss that we won’t see Corlys’ epic sea voyages in live action. Animated shows are perhaps more cost-effective, but they don’t give the same effect as seeing real actors and set design on the screen.
