Emmys 2025: The Pitt Wins Big Against The White Lotus, Severance And More

At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards held on September 14, 2025, The Pitt came away as one of the night’s biggest winners. Breaking through against heavy competition, the series took the award for the Best Drama Series Primetime Emmy Award.

The medical drama, created by R. Scott Gemmill and executive produced by John Wells, the show defeated stalwarts like Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, Severance, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus. Its historic win comes after the lawsuit with the Michael Crichton estate that alleges the drama of being an ER spin-off.

Not only did the show win the Best Drama series award, but it also topped the coveted Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series with Noah Wyle’s first Emmy win for his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and Katherine LaNasa’s win for Best Supporting Drama Actress for her role as nurse Dana Evans.

Noah Wyle Breaks ER Losing Streak With The Pitt Emmy Win

Noah Wyle’s path to this Emmy wasn’t simple. He spent much of his early career starring as Dr. John Carter on ER (1995-99), a role that earned him five prior Emmy nominations for Best Drama Supporting Actor but never a win.

For many fans, that made this moment feel poetic: a return to medical drama with The Pitt, now older, reflective, and more emotionally grounded, delivering a performance that finally merited the top acting honor. In the HBO Max medical drama, he stars as Robby during a high-pressure 15-hour shift, while also serving as an executive producer.

The actor secured his long-awaited win against fellow nominees that include acting royalty like Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us, Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, and Adam Scott for Severance.

What did you think of Noah Wyle’s Emmy win? Was The Pitt deserving over Severance and White Lotus, or are there other shows you believe were more snubbed? Drop your take below!

The Pitt is available for streaming on HBO Max.
