The Creative Arts Emmys 2025 saw Shawn Hatosy earn both his first Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series nomination and win for his role as Dr. Jack Abbot in the premiere season of HBO‘s The Pitt at the 77th annual award show on Saturday, Sept. 6. In the words of my 7-year-old, holy sh-t. I very much want to thank John Wells who has thrown me so many lifelines over the years. I’d say more but I’m gonna cry and that would be embarassing. Noah Wyle, your leadership, your performance on The Pitt is extraordinary. It’s unbelievable being on the other side of what you’re bringing.

Shawn Hatosy is an American film and television actor and director who was born on December 29, 1975, in Ijamsville, Maryland, and began his career in high school. He appeared in music videos like Wheatus’s “A Little Respect” and Justin Timberlake’s “What Goes Around… Comes Around”.
In the 2000s, Hatosy appeared in high-profile films like John Q. (2002), The Cooler (2003), Alpha Dog (2006), Public Enemies (2009), and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009).
Shawn Hatosy married actress Kelly Albanese in December 2010 and lives in Los Angeles with their three sons. He transitioned from films to television roles, appearing in numerous guest roles on shows such as Dexter, Reckless, Fear the Walking Dead, and Bosch.
He is well-known for collaborating with producer John Wells, performing roles such as Detective Sammy Bryant on the TNT crime drama series Southland (2009–2013) and Andrew “Pope” Cody in the TNT crime drama series Animal Kingdom (2016–2022). Hatosy even directed four episodes on Animal Kingdom.
