DC’s Absolute universe just released the first look at its Joker, and it is extremely similar to Marvel’s Ultimate Green Goblin. The Absolute Batman storyline has been a huge hit for DC this year, and after months of teasing, the first appearance of the Joker and his origin in the Absolute universe will be revealed in the coming issue #15.

The look of the new Joker is terrifying, and he looks like a literal demon as opposed to the psychopathic menace that he is in the mainstream. Fans are rightly scared to see Absolute Batman tackle such a fantastical villain.
DC Gives a More Fantastical Design to Absolute Batman’s Joker
DC has explored several versions and iterations of the Joker, but the new look of the villain in Absolute Batman just personifies how much of a demonic presence he is. In the Absolute Batman universe, which is an alternate reality created by Darkseid, where evil thrives and superheroes are the underdogs, the Joker has only been teased as a businessman.
In the first issue of the storyline, the Joker is revealed to be a man of importance and that he ‘never laughs’. This is a stark contrast to the usual Joker character, who is an agent of chaos and mischief (and his idea of both is quite dark). He is the ‘Man who Laughs’ and finds the funnier side of his criminal activities.
The Joker in the Absolute universe looks like a literal devil and an otherworldly creature. He is barely humanoid, and fans are rightly scared of how Absolute Batman will tackle such a villain. His Killer Croc was already many times larger than the average Waylon Jones.

bro what did batman do to deserve this
The Absolute storyline has killed it in every way so far, and the Batman stories have been quite popular. With his arch-nemesis set to make a proper debut, we will probably see Batman be completely broken physically and mentally.
Ultimate Green Goblin Resemblance Proves the Influence of the Ultimate Universe on DC
One of the first things that most fans pointed out when DC released the first look at Absolute Joker is that it resembled the Ultimate version of Green Goblin. Ultimate Green Goblin saw Norman Osbourne in a devilish new look and a much grander delusion of importance. His experiments created Spider-Man, and he knows it.
The Ultimate universe was initially created to reboot the Marvel franchise in a way until Jonathan Hickman’s Secret Universe destroyed it for Battleworld. Hickman himself restarted Earth-1610 and the Ultimate line, with Ultimate Spider-Man and Wolverine being some of its most popular comics.
The franchise has no doubt influenced DC’s Absolute line of comics, another alternative reality that explores the origins of our favorite superheroes. Both use this multiversal concept to explore some truly imaginative storylines that would not have existed in the main continuity.
Absolute Joker’s origins are yet to be explored, but all teases point to him being a business tycoon having had a radical transformation, which is exactly what happens to Ultimate Green Goblin. Did the DC universe copy, or is it just a passing resemblance? Only time will tell.
