Dandadan Season 2 reached its finale with episode 12 (episode 24 overall), and Science Saru made sure to end the season with the biggest twist of them all. The kaiju has finally been defeated. Yet, just as everyone tried to uncover the secret of the monster, a pretty girl hopped out to kiss Okarun.
The final shot of the season showed a wide-eyed and flustered Okarun, whose first kiss had been stolen by a mysterious girl with green hair (Vamola) who had just walked out of the very suit that was terrorizing them.
Why Did Vamola Kiss Okarun in Dandadan Season 2 Finale?
Vamola is actually the last survivor of the Sumerian race. She arrived on Earth after escaping from her own planet, which has been invaded. Vamola’s adoptive mother and the rest of her species wanted her to find a worthy husband who would help preserve the Sumerian bloodline.
Thus, when Vamola battled the humans, she realized just how powerful Okarun is. Naturally, she decided to choose the strongest human, that is, Okarun, to marry. Vamola kissed Okarun in the Dandadan Season 2 finale because she had recognized his strength and accepted him as a suitor. To her, being defeated by him is enough proof of his strength.
The reason why Vamola suddenly kisses Okarun without any warning or courtship is probably due to the fact that she was never taught the proper procedure of gaining a suitor. She was raised by the old survivors of the Sumerian race and was always in survival mode. With no one of her own age to interact with, Vamola has no idea how she needs to behave amongst peers, or any social conventions. Thus, in a moment of shock, she chose to kiss Okarun to express that she intends to marry him.
How Will Vamola’s Impromptu Kiss Affect Momo and Okarun’s Relationship?
Dandadan Season 2 finale makes it clear that Momo did NOT like Vamola kissing Okarun. Why would she? The guy she likes has suddenly been kissed by an alien girl, who they were battling against just seconds ago. Soon after the scene, Momo would angrily attack Vamola in order to separate her from Okarun.
Vamola’s insistence on taking Okarun as her suitor will make Momo extremely angry and frustrated in the story. She would start seeing Vamola as a romantic rival and even get aggressive with her at times. In turn, her relationship with Okarun would also sour since Okarun would carelessly comment about how pretty Vamola is.
The rocky relationship between Momo and Okarun might not last too long, but it would probably be the first time that Momo has ever gotten so frustrated. Vamola will eventually become a part of the group, angering Momo even more.
