The Beast Kings in the Clevatess anime, also known as the Four Lords of Dark Beasts, serve as protectors, guarding the lands of magical beasts from human invaders. They are the ultimate rulers of their individual borderlands, each ruling four separate regions.
Their powers far exceed those of any other being in the series, as the anime itself is named after the Dark King of the South, Clevatess. However, the other Beast Kings are equally powerful, if not more. Here’s a detailed breakdown of their powers and abilities individually.
1. Clevatess, the Dark King of the South
With his unmatched command over both light and darkness, Clevatess is arguably the mightiest among the Beast Kings. He rules the southern borderlands and appears as a terrifying mix of lion, ram, and wolf. However, he is not the very first Beast King of the South; he inherited the title about a thousand years before the story begins.
Clevatess’s strength isn’t limited to brute force. In his human form, known as Klem, he is both cunning and wise. Previously, he has defeated countless heroes, even those armed with the sacred Manahydrite weapons. The last king of Hyden even declared him the final wall humanity must overcome to break free of its limits.
2. Vordein, the Dark King of the North
By looks alone, Vordein, the Beast King of the North, might be the scariest. His massive body is covered in dozens of eerie eyes, and he towers over ordinary dragons. However, he rarely comes to the forefront himself and relies on his chosen one, Dorel, and salamander-like familiars to carry out his will.
His authority over fire, blood, and ancient sorcery makes him one of humanity’s greatest threats. He even gives off serious main-villain vibes as he schemes from the shadows. Even Clevatess admits Vordein’s immense strength, though he believes he could defeat him without much effort. Still, if the two ever did clash, the fallout would be nothing short of catastrophic.
3. Zavthier, the Dark King of the West
Out of the four, Zaftier is the only female Beast King (one might even say queen). In fact, she is worshipped as a goddess by the Forest People who live under her protection. Unlike the others, her usual appearance is rather strange, like a creature with wings sprouting from her ankles. But not nearly as frightening as the ones mentioned before.
As a matter of fact, no one knows her true form as of now, yet her influence over her lands is undeniable. Zaftier is a master of illusions. Even Clevatess once remarked that her command over mist is so impeccable she can cloak her entire territory in a dense fog, shielding her people from outside struggles. And because of this, the West has remained safe for generations.
4. Laswell, the Dark King of the East
While we have at least some information about the previous ones, Laswell, the Beast King of the East, remains the most mysterious. The only thing apparent is that he has a colossal form, reminiscent of some ancient sea monster. Interestingly, he might even have a connection to Slada, one of the lesser-seen races of Esthea.
Many assume Laswell could be the oldest and perhaps the wisest among the Beast Kings. Even his abilities remain unknown to this day, which only suggests he must be incredibly powerful to conceal his strength so thoroughly. For now, though, all we can do is speculate, as the curtain over the true extent of his power is yet to be lifted.
