Bloodborne Fans Left in the Dust Again as Demon’s Souls Remake Reportedly Has a Shot at PC Release

Every time Sony schedules a State of Play, there’s a voice in our heads that tells us, “This time it’s Bloodborne for sure.” Well, that voice has been wrong for many, many years now. Once again, we are destined for disappointment.

On a recent episode of the Game Mess Decides podcast, Giant Bomb co-owner Jeff Grubb and site co-owner Mike Minotti gave us some insight into what’s going on behind the scenes. You know the State of Play that’s been rumored for next week? Yeah, we might get a Demon’s Souls PC port before Bloodborne.

We Could See a Demon’s Souls Remake PC Port at the Next State Of Play

According to industry insider Jeff Grubb, Sony is preparing another State of Play before the end of September 2025. We’re not really surprised, since it’s a tradition that Sony has upheld for a few years now. Speaking during his Game Mess Decides podcast on September 18, Grubb said he expects the next major PlayStation-to-PC port could very well be Demon’s Souls Remake.

The remake made by Bluepoint in 2020 was one of the PlayStation 5’s launch titles and has remained locked to the console ever since. Given its critical acclaim and success, it’s logical that the company would decide to bring it to PC. Grubb also explains that Demon’s Souls makes sense as Sony’s next move, pointing out that it, alongside Gran Turismo 7, feels overdue for a wider release.

The September event has historically had some big announcements, like Ghost of Yotei last year, so a PC port of Demon’s Souls would make sense in that regard, too. A more recent report from leaker NateTheHate has also hinted that a new PlayStation presentation is planned for next week. This would most likely be the State of Play.

But wait, if we’re talking about games that are successful, locked to specific hardware, and due for a PC port or a remaster, then we have to mention Bloodborne.

Sony Remains Oblivious to Bloodborne Remaster Request

Yes, the real gut punch for fans is once again the fact that Bloodborne has remained untouched. Grubb reaffirmed that after checking in on the situation “relatively recently,” the answer remains the same: nothing is happening with Bloodborne.

Developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony in 2015, Bloodborne has been stuck on the PlayStation 4 for over ten years, capped at 30 frames per second. Despite countless rumors, demands, and even fan-made 60 FPS patches, Sony has never made a remake or remaster.

Grubb noted that Sony won’t move forward on the IP without FromSoftware’s involvement, but the studio is already busy with Elden Ring: Nightreign and The Duskbloods for Nintendo’s Switch 2 console. FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki even admitted in early 2024 that new hardware like the PlayStation 5 could add “value” to a remake, but that hasn’t given us anything.

It’s an exhausting cycle for us fans. We know for a fact that every fan has that little hope in them at every State of Play. And every time the showcase ends without a Bloodborne update, disappointment sets in. Maybe it’s time to give up hope entirely. Maybe it’s time to stop expecting a remaster and simply enjoy FromSoftware’s new projects.

But why are Sony and FromSoft so oblivious? If not to our demands, then also to the potential profit that a Bloodborne Remaster would bring. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
