AJ Lee returned to WWE on last week’s episode of SmackDown. Sending the Chicago crowd into a frenzy, The Black Widow pounced on Becky Lynch to help her husband, CM Punk. While the high of nostalgia will soon be over, here are the details of Lee’s new contract with WWE and what her schedule would look like.
According to a report by Bodyslam, AJ Lee has signed a multi-year deal with the Stamford-based promotion. Additionally, she will be wrestling full-time. Thus, the WWE Universe can see her fighting matches or landing verbal jabs on almost all the weekly shows. This is a big win for the fans who waited for over a decade to see the comeback of the former three-time Divas Champion.
The Black Widow’s return happened right after Becky Lynch aligned herself with The Vision and cost CM Punk the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash in Paris. The Man low-blowed The Second City Saint when he was about to deliver a second GTS to Seth Rollins, but Lynch’s interference resulted in The Visionary retaining his title in the Fatal Four Way that also involved Jey Uso and LA Knight.
The episodes of RAW and SmackDown that followed saw Big Time Becks slapping Punk and berating him. However, the blue-branded show saw AJ Lee pay Lynch back for putting her hands on The Straight Edge Superstar. Lee even revealed on this week’s Monday Night Show that she ended her retirement because the Irishwoman attacked her husband.
AJ Lee Has Been Booked for the Upcoming WWE Wrestlepalooza
Notably, when Becky Lynch fled from last week’s episode of SmackDown, she left her Women’s Intercontinental Championship behind. The Black Widow picked up the belt, posing and parading with it before the fans of Chicago alongside CM Punk. This week on RAW, Lee entered the arena with the belt around her waist and delivered an in-ring promo.
Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins interrupted the former three-time Divas Champion, and The Man asked for her title back. Lee laid the belt on the floor and asked Becks to simply come and get it, or agree to a mixed tag team match. Afraid, Lynch sent her husband, Rollins, to retrieve the title. However, AJ didn’t allow The Architect to get his hands on the title.

The World Heavyweight Champion bailed when Punk rushed to the ring and almost landed a GTS on him. Frustrated, The Revolutionary agreed to a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza. As promised, Lee tossed the Women’s Intercontinental Championship belt back to Lynch, and now both married couples will face each other on September 20, 2025.
AJ Lee’s First Address to the WWE Universe Following Her Return
AJ Lee was welcomed with massive cheers by the fans in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on this week’s episode of RAW. Speaking to the fans as her pro wrestling persona for the first time in ten years, she introduced herself to the younger fanbase.
So, for those of you who weren’t here ten years ago. And were really confused as to why your millennial parents were very excited, allow me to introduce myself. My name is AJ Lee. And I am your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler.

The former three-time Divas Champion said that she retired because she thought that she had achieved all her dreams in pro wrestling. Lee also said that she needed to look after her mental health and was taking therapy before going on a journey to achieve her other dreams. Notably, AJ Mendez, the real-life person behind the pro wrestling character, worked as an author and screenplay writer during her time away from WWE.
Firing shots at Becky Lynch, AJ Lee said that she believed that the two of them could be friends since they have a lot in common. Now, the two women will face each other at Wrestlepalooza alongside their respective husbands. Moreover, it is highly likely that The Black Widow will go after the Women’s Intercontinental Championship after the premium live event.
