Dying Light: The Beast officially dropped on September 18. And, players are enjoying the franchise coming back to its roots with parkour, brutal combat, and survival mechanics.
But beyond the action, Techland has also added various secret hidden eggs that will reward players who are willing to explore every corner of Castor Woods’ chaotic world. From pop-culture nods to powerful hidden weapons, here are the top 5 Easter eggs in Dying Light: The Beast.
1. Excalibur Easter Egg – Wield the Legendary Sword
To find the location of the legendary Excalibur sword, players need to go to the monastery and then make their way northeast across the river toward the road. From there, they will see various spots with massive cliffs.
Use the roots from the tree to climb up one of the hills and continue until you reach the highest mountain peak (it will require some parkour as you have to jump through a bunch of cliffs). At the top, you’ll discover the fabled Excalibur.
To unlock the weapon, you need to place 8 stones on the sticks, holding the weapon in place. Once freed, it becomes yours, one of the most iconic Easter eggs in the game.
2. Secret Bike Race – Ride That Bike Thing
To find this easter egg, players need to travel southwest on the map and look for a lone bike. The bike will be on the rock. All you have to do is interact with it to kick off the hidden bike race.
There are three time records to beat, with rewards scaling based on your performance. Push for the fastest time if you want bragging rights (and some sweet loot).
3. Korek Machete – Strauss & Broda’s Legendary Blade
For this easter egg, players need to head into the Industrial Zone and locate the tall building marked on the map above. To find the box where the weapon is hidden, players need to go to the roof floor, instead of the first floor.
There you’ll find a small locked cabinet on the wall. The trick? Knock on it 77 times (yes, you really have to). Once it finally unlocks, you’ll be rewarded with the legendary Korek Machete, which can do some electric damage when you hit the enemies.
4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Easter Egg – Cowabunga in Harran
To even get to the area to find this easter egg, players need to first complete the Hydro Puzzle side quest, which unlocks access to the sewers.
After that, head down, and at the far end, you’ll stumble upon a scene: a lot of pizza boxes, a dead rat (sadly), and a weapon. It’s a clear nod to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… cowabunga, survivor!
5. Last Hand of GloVa – Minecraft Meets Harry Potter
For this easter egg, you have to go back to the monastery, but this time head a little southeast. You’ll spot a ruined brick building with a mysterious “9¾” painted on the wall; it’s a playful reference to Harry Potter.
Walk straight through the wall to reveal a secret tunnel. Go a little inside, and then you’ll come across a Minecraft-style wall, break through it to continue deeper.
At the end lies an underground station with a train, along with supplies and the legendary Last Hand of GloVa weapon. Equip it, and you’ll gain the ability to unleash fiery attacks.
