If you haven’t been keeping up with the gaming scene, Riot Games is gearing up to launch a brand new title called 2XKO. What’s this one about? Well, it’s a 2D tag-team fighting game that lets you step into the arena with your favorite League of Legends champions.
If that sounds cool to you, now’s the perfect time to get familiar with all the controls and gameplay, whether you’re playing on a controller or keyboard, to get that day-one edge over your rivals.
2XKO Controls For Controllers

As you’d expect from any fighting game out there, 2XKO comes packed with a bunch of inputs for fighting against your enemies. You have a light, medium, and heavy button, two special move buttons, and a tag button.
You can also assign dash and parry to a specific button for quicker execution. Combos are straightforward as they allow you to change light into medium into heavy by pressing them consecutively. Special moves come down to each champion, but they’re designed to look epic while also packing serious power to completely flip the match upside down.

2XKO is a 2v2 Tag-Team Fighting Game
Now that you’re familiar with the basics of 2XKO, you’re probably wondering what the gameplay is like and if it’s even worth bothering with. Considering the fact that the gaming market is loaded with a bunch of fighting games, these are some valid questions. Well, we can say that 2XKO has all the potential to be a Game of the Year 2025 contender as long as Riot Games doesn’t drop the ball.
2XKO is a 2v2 tag-based fighter that’s similar to games such as Marvel Tokon or Super Mario Bros. We have ten champions from League of Legends stepping into the arena, which means you will be able to brawl with characters like Jinx, Vi, and Ekko.

To dominate fights, you’ll need to master mechanics such as tagging and assists. The move sets are inspired by League of Legends and Arcane, which brings quite a twist to this tag fighter, unlike other games in other genres.
For those who want to throw hands against other players, there’s a full-fledged competitive system where you can battle others, climb the ladder, and prove that you have got it. What’s great is that 2XKO also allows you to pair up with your friend and jump into matches with your entire crew.
One might think that the game is launching with just 10 fighters. But don’t forget that there are more than 140 Champions in League of Legends. There’s a good chance that Riot will bring more to the fighting game. Future updates for this game will likely expand the roster, alongside new modes, features, and things to keep things exciting and gamers hooked.
When can you expect to play 2XKO? Currently, there’s a closed beta going on, which you can sign up for through the official website. Unfortunately, those who are on consoles will have to wait a bit longer as the beta isn’t available for them.
However, Riot has confirmed that 2XKO will hit the shelves sometime in 2025. For those who can play the closed beta, grind as much as you can, as the progress will carry over to the final build, and it will even be available on consoles thanks to cross-progression.
If we have to predict, a holiday season release looks most likely, as Riot definitely doesn’t want to clash with other major titles in the months ahead. Keep in mind, though, if the testing phases don’t go as planned and there’s a bunch of things to fix, Riot could always shift the release window forward by a few months. So, keep your expectations in check, and you won’t be disappointed.
