2XKO Beginner Combos and Tag Mechanics Guide: How To Dominate Your First Match

2XKO is an upcoming assist-based 2v2 fighting game that brings League of Legends champions into an action-packed tag-team format. The game is currently in a closed beta (starting today, September 9), and while access is invite-only, developers have confirmed more and more players will be joining.

Like with any fighting game, mastering the basics is very crucial, and in 2XKO, it’s even more crucial, as the game has unique tag mechanics with the various characters and their combos.

So, learning these fundamentals early will give you a huge advantage and help you dominate your first matches. Let’s dive in.

Easy Combos Every New Player Should Know in 2XKO

Combos in 2XKO follow a very intuitive but simple structure, making them easy for beginners to learn. Every champion has its light, medium, heavy, and special attacks. To start a combo with every single character:

[ Light > Medium > Heavy ] to start the combo, then you can add Special 1 > Special 2 (L > M > H > S1 > S2).

This chain works universally across all champions, so you can practice it with anyone. For even easier execution of these combos, players can even activate Autocombos by selecting the Pulse Fuse in the pre-match setup or turning on Pulse Combo in settings.

After that, all you have to do is just mash the same attack button, and your character will perform a full string automatically. However, that’s the basic combo; to increase the damage, you integrate various actions in between the basic sequence.

Simply add launchers by pressing down left (arrow) + Heavy to knock opponents into the air, then follow up with another L > M > H combo mid-air. That’s just one example, you can add special moves, or different inputs to keep the damage and stun.

Always try to finish with a special attack for big damage. Master these simple sequences first, and you’ll have the confidence to explore advanced routes later.

With the game being a 2v2 tag-team fighting game, the tag mechanics are going to be the backbone of 2XKO’s gameplay. The two main actions you’ll use in every single match are Assist and Handshake Tag.

  • Assist: if the player is playing solo, they can tap the Tag (T) button to call their partner for a quick attack. The best part about this is that assists can extend combos, apply pressure, or even help maintain momentum.
  • Quick Tag: This is essentially for quick swapping. Simply hold the Tag button to instantly swap characters without a hit, ideal for escaping bad situations.
  • Handshake Tag: During an Assist, players can press the Tag button again to switch characters mid-combo. This allows you to create longer, more stylish chains while taking advantage of both fighters’ movesets.

If you’re playing solo, it is recommended to rotate characters often to keep your health balanced (separate HP bar for each character). In 2v2 mode, try to coordinate with your teammate and sync your assists or tags. If done correctly, this can lead to massive damage and game-changing setups.

In the end, a well-timed combo and tag can turn the tide of a match, so learn to use these tools aggressively and defensively.
